25 kW Power Generation System

Power plants with generating capacities of 500 kW and higher can be built utilizing the 25 kW EnCurrent Power Generation System. These plants can be built downstream of existing hydro dams to increase the generating capacity of the existing facility, placed in irrigation canals, placed in series down one bank of a large river or implemented in a small-scale tidal farm. The system is available in two models:

  • High Velocity Model
Designed for 25 kW power output at 3 m/s with a four bladed turbine.
  • Low Velocity Model
Designed for 25 kW power output at 2.4 m/s with a four bladed turbine. The low-velocity model employs a turbine rotor with a cross-sectional area twice the size of the high-velocity model.
  • Restricted Flow Model
The restricted flow model uses a five bladed turbine which increases the resistance in the turbine. It is used in locations where the majority of the water in the channel flows through the turbine and where the increased resistance causes water to be backed up behind the turbine.
